A passive terminator is simply a resistor network designed to regulate the impedance in the line, while an active terminator uses a voltage regulator to optimize signal voltage. Active negation terminators differ from active terminators in that voltage regulation is provided within a 1% tolerance, and current sinking capability of 20mA is added, creating a much more stable SCSI bus.
